This was my neighbors Explorer Sport this morning in our nice quiet neighborhood. My FoST was parked two cars away. No one is safe!

Is the market hot for explorer wheels right now?

Or are theives just massive idiots?

That was what I was attempting to calculate too. What else do these fit that would make them desirable? Edge and Flex? Right?

I have no idea. This is ridiculous. An older Puerto Rican guy drove by really slow in a Suburban with his windows down and you could hear him, “Holy Shit! WTF? This shit doesn’t happen here!”

You aren’t in Chicago by any chance, are you? Because if so, by now your neighbor has a ticket on his windshield for having a car in non-operating condition parked on the street.

Hopefully it’s an unmarked cop car with cameras and shit inside. Then there will be justice for the dumb criminal.

I would think they would just take the whole vehicle versus just stealing the wheels on the street. What if someone were to drive by?

It's times like these that a dog is good. My dog would be losing their shit if this happened outside my house. And if my dog is that antsy, chances are there's a problem I'd go investigate.

Aren’t locking wheel nuts a thing or it doesn’t really matter for thieves?

It can happen any where any time. This was behind a locked barb wire fence and next to our shop/office building.

Yikes. Explorer Sport wheels aint cheap.

More importantly, the next XLT you see driving around on Sport wheels....probably has stolen wheels.

I think Non-Sport explorer owners like to buy the sport wheels on craigslist. Probably could get $800 just for the tires.

No one is safe!

I beg to differ. Of four cars, one of mine is on really shitty looking painted aluminum 5/112 15"s, two are on steelies that are 5/6.5(!) and 5/5 respectively (WTF!), and the third is on mismatched sizes of 5/4.5s.

So brazen.... And speaking of brazen theves... I heard on a moto board that last weekend, some guys were camping out with their motorcycles here in Colorado. In the middle of the night, someone snuck into the campsite and quietly rolled one of their honda dirtbikes away..... lunacy!

OEM wheels are expensive, and there are a ton of Explorers sold. I’m sure there is a big enough black market for those wheels to make it worth their while.

I saw that in person once. About 10 years ago, my dad and I were shopping at the local Mercedes dealer and someone stole about 4 cars worth of AMG wheels and left the cars on cinder-blocks on the rocker panels. Oh, and one was an 07 S63.

I’m pretty sure Explore Sport wheels, are 20"s they could easily end up on a Crown Vic with some adapters. plus they’re selling for 500 buck a pop on ebay. So you fence them over to a guy with an ebay store for 1000 bucks a set, and you can use it to not pay your rent.
